Cabarrus Bank & Trust CEO Never Meets A Stranger

personalities that within minutes of chatting with her she
becomes a friend.
Pat Horton, the CEO of Cabarrus Bank & Trust,
has been in the banking business for more than 32 years.
She has been in the people business for a lifetime.
"My husband says I could talk to a
wall and it would talk back," Horton said. "But
I love people, and I think that you can always brush up on
your people skills. It's got to be part of your make up."
The duties which make up Horton's job involve
the everyday challenges of supervising banking locations
mixed with a smattering of creativity.
"I manage the overall operations and
oversee all of the branches with Cabarrus Bank & Trust," Horton
said. "There are issues and challenges that begin and
end at my doorsteps, but the creativity of solving things
never ends. I love being able to help people in this community,
creating satisfied customers and long-term relationships."
Horton's nature is to put people first and
she recognizes the same characteristic in customers who choose
a bank based on those people, at specific locations, giving
quality service.
"In my 32 years of experience, people
don't bank with banks because of their name but because of
the people who work at the bank," said Horton, whose
32 year tenure was with First Charter. "I have had customers
follow me and I want those customers to understand that I'm
here to help them understand their financial needs and goals."
Horton says that she knows she was selected
by Cabarrus Bank & Trust because of her people skills.
"Some of the reasons Cabarrus Bank
brought me on board is to help people achieve and grow," Horton
said. "They brought me in because I know the area. I
have a comfort level here and a commitment to this community."
Horton doesn't mince words about who she
is and she says that she is still learning the banking industry. "This
is a great opportunity, but I am still learning," Horton
explained. "What you see is what you get."
