Monday,
July 18th 2005 - Albemarle, NC - Nadine Bowers, Vice President
and Senior Financial Consultant with Bank
of Stanly and Strategic
Investment Group, has announced her intentions to retire
on July 29, 2005. Nadine, who has been with the company
since opening in 1984, has provided 21 years of dedicated
service to customers in the Stanly County and surrounding
counties and has truly exemplified the company’s
motto, “Making a Difference”.
Nadine reflects on her years of serving Uwharrie
Capital Corp, Bank of Stanly and Strategic Investment
Group, “I love this organization and have enjoyed
seeing it start up from the beginning and look forward
to seeing its continued success. It is thrilling to know
that Stanly County can have a company grow from 12 associates
to over 150 in 21 years, and it’s all Homegrown.
I have loved being a part of that.”
Nadine began her financial services career with Bank
of Stanly as a customer service representative in January
1984. Three years later, she was promoted to Assistant
Vice President and held the responsibility of coordination
of the customer service and retail area. In 1994, she was
named Vice President and account executive, during which
time she obtained her Series 7, 63 and 65 registrations.
She remained in the retail banking area until she moved
to Strategic Investment Group in 2002. Since that time,
she has managed customers’ overall financial needs
as Senior Financial Consultant.
Roger Dick, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Uwharrie Capital Corp commended Nadine on her years of
service and commitment. “Our company and our community
have been very blessed that Nadine has given us her time
and her talents and we wish the very best to her as she
starts a new journey. We know that in retirement, Nadine
will continue to impact and make a difference in many ways
as she will always be working to contribute to her community.”
In recognition of Nadine’s faithful service to
the community, a Stanly Community College Heritage Scholarship
will be established by Uwharrie Capital Corp with Nadine
B. Bowers named as the honoree. The Stanly Community College
Heritage Program is made up of 48 other endowed scholarships
that enable students to reach their education goals by
providing financial resources for tuition and fees.
Nadine’s involvement in the community is certainly
not limited to the financial services arena. She currently
serves on the Stanly Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and is
a member of the board of directors for the Stanly Memorial
Hospital Foundation. Her past community involvement includes
serving on the board of directors for the Stanly Mental
Health Board, YMCA, Stanly Community College Foundation
and the American Cancer Society. She is a member of the
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and serves on the scholarship committee
at Stanly Community College.
Nadine is an active member of Salem United Methodist
Church, where she is a Sunday School teacher, Vice President
of Circle II and is Chairperson of the Finance Committee.
She has been married since 1962 to Allen Bowers, owner
of Bowers Implement Company in Albemarle. They have two
sons, Stanley (Donna) and Dean (Mindi) and three grandchildren,
Graham, Preston and Madeline. Nadine commented, “I
look forward to the next stage in my life…more time
for family (especially the grandchildren), friends and
the community.”
By working together, we can continue
to enhance the well being of the counties we serve
and make a difference in our community.
